Holiday 2023 Palette Swatches (Guerlain, Tom Ford, Natasha Denona)
Here are swatches of three smaller-format holiday palettes from Guerlain, Tom Ford, and Natasha Denona, respectively. Guerlain and Natasha Denona’s formulas both felt comparable to past releases, while the Tom Ford quad felt drier, thinner, and was generally a miss.
Guerlain Glittery Tiger at least has an interesting color story! I’m hoping that the purple matte applies better than it swatches, though.
The other two are just not for me.
At least two of these look fun!
I hadn’t paid much notice of the Guerlain palette. It is quite lovely and really pigmented. I am not sure about the color story and shade 4 looks a bit questionable but likely would show up really well on my skin tone. I don’t know if it is meant to be a topper shade but if it is then questionable as working with the other colors.
I have been really considering the Tom Ford quad. I am surprised that the shade I thought would look very silver actually doesn’t at all. I have seen it described as silver on other blogs and on YT videos but it doesn’t really look silver to me. I don’t know how it will come across on my skin so will have to swatch in person. I am surprised that they are likely not going to review well. I don’t like powdery formulas and especially if there is a lot of kick up in the pan as it feels like you are wasting so much product. I will have to wait and see if their feeling more thin and drier results in kick up. I do appreciate that Christine’s photos are so good and I believe that it will appear as it does in these swatches. I will just need to see how it looks on me and how dusty they may be.
The Natasha Denona has three shades I love, one I hate and one I am indifferent to! I really don’t like Overcast. So, do I want to buy a palette that has only three shades I would actually use very much. It also doesn’t really read holiday or special occasion to me. Again, I will have to check it out in person.
Thank you so much for the early swatches.
Interesting colourful options from the various Holiday Collections.
Guerlain – I like the colour story here, especially the combination of the green and plum shade.
Tom Ford -I recall the original Soleil D’Hiver from a couple of years ago and that was stunning. This one isn’t unfortunately. It looks more like the CP offering – underwhelming and wishy washy.
ND – As much as I like blue eyeshadow, I don’t really like these blue shades – except for the shimmery ones like Strike and Aero. I find the matte shades to be too bright a blue for me.
I wish Tom Ford would stop reformulating their pressed powder shadows and just discontinue them altogether. Reviews have never been great and consumers much prefer the wet/dry baked gelee and new-ish cream to powder formulas instead. This quad looks pretty but again, the reviews I’ve seen have been poor.
